If I had to pick one thing KCC Angler and Crappie Master Pro, Frank Haidusek is good at it would be his ability to fish trees. Any lake the KCC Tournament Trail leads him to, if it has some standing timber in it, that's where you'll find Frank.
That's where he and Tournament partner, Kalin Canton pulled a winning bag of 8.49 Lbs off of Pomona this past weekend. When asked about the winning pattern he used to win on the Club Facebook page, Frank explained,... (What a difference a couple days make. I prefished Thursday evening catching 2 crappie and missing around 30 bites. Today Kalin Caton and I won the Kansas Crappie Club Pomona Lake tournament fishing same area catching 20-40 keepers. Our bigger fish came on trees along the channel in 13-15 fow fishing 10-12 ft deep. Caught some fish on Spike-It Junebug but most our fish came off of Top Secret Black and Chartreuse Toad Tamer with pink head.) ![]() The Team of Morgan/Roberts/Allen took 2nd Place with 8.42 as well as winning the Big Fish Contest with a 1.49 Lb Slab that decided to snack on a Blue & Chartreuse 2.5 in Top Secret Stinger. Fishing brush in 12 to 16 ft of water they came in with a nice sack of Kansas' favorite fish weighing 8.42 Lbs, missing out on the top spot by just .07 Oz. It was a tight race with less than two and a half ounces separating the top three Teams. ![]()
Father & Son Team of Schrock / Schrock, another Team that uses Top Secret Jigs took 3rd Place with 8.27 Lbs working a mix of standing trees and brush along the ledges. Even with the water level being several feet below normal, these guys were still able to get it done.
