Two Tournaments, Two Wins,
One Weekend- You know what they say, when you're hot, you're hot. That was definitely the case this weekend with Frank Haidusek. Frank took first place at the Crappie Masters tournament on Lake Fork then drove all night to fish the KCC Season Opener with Dalton Thomas and blew it away with a Club record smashing bag of 13.12 Lbs. Biggest Bag ever brought in at a KCC Event. Frank, Owner of Cleared Hot Fishing Llc and Retired Air Force Veteran says that his Livescope was a huge help in targeting solitary suspended fish hanging over the channels. ![]() Big Ole Mama - The 2019 Season is off to a good start for the Top Secret Jig Team. Owner Brandon Manis and Co-Angler Marc Shepard beat the old KCC record of single biggest fish ever brought to the scales in a tournament of 2.11 Lbs, also set by them, bringing in a massive 2.51 Lbs. I'd say that fish did a bit more than just beat a record, a bit more like blew it out the water. Garmin Livescope and Toad Tamers by Top Secret Jigs paired with Kevin Rogers signature series Jenko rods were the tools used to do the heavy lifting, literally ! That fish was swung into the boat ! Brandon and Marc went on to put a bag together worth 10.27 on the scales landing them a 2nd Place finish as well as Big Fish Honors. ![]()
Always at the Top-
Rounding out our top three this weekend was the Team of Todd Morsdorf and Tony Niemeyer. They were beating on the timber and brush piles with Top Secret Stingers bringing in a bag of 8.47 Lbs. Todd's Yamaha powered Ranger 519 is always a boat to beat regardless of the Lake we are on and after a long and cold off season they picked up right where they left off last year.
D-2 a Go -
Division 2 kicked off this year offering guys new to Tournaments a chance to learn the lakes and game a little before tying one on with the big kids. Jeff Keller, with nothing more than a pointer or two and a day of practice to dial it in, won the Opener with a very nice 1.59 lb he caught fishing in some standing timber. It was a pretty close race between him and the Team of Wenzel / Whiteside who sore lipped a 1.51 lb to take the runner up spot. Solid fish by any standards. It was really fun having the Division Two guys fishing alongside us this weekend learning the craft of Tournament Slabbin', can't wait to watch these guys as they learn the game and see where it takes them.
